Liberty Science Center

LIBERTY SCIENCE CENTER

We're back! With so much more to do and see
The reinvented Liberty Science Center is different in almost every way, from its unique approach to engaging people in real science, to its goal of positively influencing communities and society to take action to improve our world. And we want you to be a part of it.

Our Mission: Liberty Science Center is an innovative learning resource for lifelong exploration of nature, humanity and technology, strengthening communities and inspiring global stewardship.
Changing the Paradigm
Science museums first appeared in the early 1800s with a focus on collecting, researching and presenting artifacts and specimens in an attempt to understand the past. In the late 1960s, the paradigm shifted and the first science centers made their debut. More energetic and active, they sought to entertain, engage and ultimately to increase scientific literacy and understanding.
Forty years and more than 500 new science centers later, the paradigm has shifted once again. Dissatisfied with what has become the traditional science center focus on interactivity and box office sales, a new model has been conceived -- and made real -- at the reinvented Liberty Science Center.
We are moving beyond encouraging science literacy to inspiring science activism. We see ourselves as not just a science center, but as a globally minded science resource for living, learning, working in and caring for our region. Bold in approach, we aim to serve as a catalyst for events that advance the realm of science, technology and society -- locally, nationally and internationally.
What We Do
We are leaders in providing interactive science and technology education, inspiring teachers and students to pursue lifelong learning.
We generate an expectation that the world around us is a series of exciting experiences to be discovered.
We sit at the center of both environmental and human diversity, and we are committed to the preservation and celebration of both.
Enhanced by our historic and cosmopolitan location, we provide transformative experiences, inspiring each individual to understand the continuing connection between scientific advances and how they improve the human condition.
